Team Oklahoma, Class 102 Department of Oklahoma American Legion College to be held September 29th thru the 1st of October at the Tinker Event Center, 3900 Mitchell Ave. Oklahoma City, OK 73145.
This course will encourage new ideas and how to expand on programs already in use. Posts should encourage and support Post members who wish to attend that show promise. Completion of this course will make us better Legion, SAL or Auxiliary members and will strengthen the entire Legion Family.
Oklahoma Legion College will be held in the Gen. James E. Hill Conference Center Bld. 1093, located on Patrol Rd. Payments for the Oklahoma Legion College can be sent, or mailed to the Department of Oklahoma American Legion, Oklahoma City, OK 73152. Payment can be made by check, PayPal or Square for PayPal you can use the
Department website. The post or individual will contact Rob Huagh the Department Adjutant at the email address of adjutant@okamlegion.org (preferred method) the Dept. pays the least amount of fees this way. Veteran Service Officers, Veteran Services, Volunteer Organization
The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization. Focusing on service to veterans, servicemembers and communities, the Legion evolved from a group of war-weary veterans of World War I into one of the most influential nonprofit groups in the United States. Membership swiftly grew to over 1 million, and local posts sprang up across the country. Today, membership stands at nearly 2 million in more than 13,000 posts worldwide. The posts are organized into 55 departments: one each for the 50 states, along with the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, France, Mexico and the Philippines.
Over the years, the Legion has influenced considerable social change in America, won hundreds of benefits for veterans and produced many important programs for children and youth. Following is a chronology of significant dates in Legion history:
